Đuro Sarvaš - Orašje, small town on the river Sava. Quiet place, not unlike other border towns. Yet, there is something different. Djuro Sarvas lives at the town entrance. He is an ordinary citizen, but still different. He was born in a modest workers family, used to live only from his work. He used to help out his father and mother in nearby brick factory since he was a young boy. Little by little, he learned about ceramics craftsmanshift and few years ago he started working on production of clay and plaster products. He commenced with his business with a loan in amount of 5000 BAM issued by EKI. He didn't even have a workshop, he worked outdoor. He says he constantly prayed the God that there is not rain or snow. He was afraid because his products were not yet on the market at that time. He thought about returning the loan. He was afraid that he won't manage to sell what he makes. And he made various clay and plaster products. There were various miniature animals, flower pots, figurines of various shapes... Beginners' difficulties and not so high income still gave him the strength and willingness to continue. He achieved his goal, he could sell what he makes. He says: "Man has to do something, and this is where I'm the best. Even when the business is slow, I go on!" He made a workshop with nylon walls, which looks more like a greenhouse. In order to boost his sale and expand his production assortment, he aging used a loan from EKI, doubling his income. Then it was the time to think about house construction, since his old house was damaged during the war. As his wife and children are helping him in his work, they decided to build the house with the workshop in which they can maintain their production. One more time, with the help from EKI loan in amount of 10000 BAM, he built a house and equipped the workshop. Now, with better tools and working conditions, his business does not stop. This way, Djuro ensures a modest but good life for him and his family.
